Volunteers
Volunteers from all walks of life are welcome at Happy Nairobi Kids. We welcome corporate teams, local and international charity teams, social workers, churches, primary, high school and university students, and any well wisher who can spare some time from their schedules to come and spend time with these little angels. Material donations are welcome, but the time you spend with the children is just as important.
Doctors, nurses and teachers who wish to lend their services to the home on a pro bono basis are more than welcome to get in touch with the home’s management.
Guests are welcome to carry out chores in the Orphanage compound, play with the children, read to them and even just have a chat to encourage them in the face of the hardships they are facing.
By following these volunteer guidelines, you will ensure that the time you spend in the centre is well spent, and fun for both you and the children.
1. Be Punctual and Responsible.
We appreciate the time you take out of your busy schedules but will appreciate it if you kept time so that any programs planned for the day can be carried out and the children’s scheduled tasks can be planned around your visit. Should you anticipate lateness, kindly contact the management
2. Be appropriate.
It will be appreciated if you would dress comfortably and appropriately around the children and refrain from using curse words and other derogatory terms around them.
3. Interaction with the children.
All volunteers are expected to treat the children with respect and encouraged to portray a positive image to the impressionable children.
DO NOT report for volunteer service under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Smoking or the use of tobacco in the presence of children is strictly prohibited.
DO have a good time and encourage your friends to visit the children
Volunteers are an asset and can contribute a great deal to Happy Nairobi Kids. They can make a tremendous impact on the lives of our children. Our staff and children welcome and enjoy spending time getting to know volunteers. Happy Nairobi Kids is not only an orphanage, but a home-a large extended family. Most volunteers will find the time they spend here with the children to be incredibly fulfilling.
